Shirin Khan is Executive Director of ALIM. She is also an attorney practicing in various areas of Nonprofit Law. Mrs. Khan is a co-founder of ALIM and has been a board member since its inception. Along with ALIM, she has been an active volunteer at the Muslim Community of the Western Suburbs (MCWS) in Canton, Michigan. She is an avid runner and loves working with youth.
Mrs. Khan earned her JD at Wayne State University Law School, and her Masters in Human Resources and Industrial Relations along with her Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Organizational Studies, and Arabic at the University of Michigan. |
Mamoon Syed is currently the Vice President of Human Resources at Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center in San Diego, CA. Prior to moving to San Diego from his homestate of Wisconsin, Mamoon was the director of Human Resources and Organizational Development at the Mercy Health System in Janesville, WI. At the Nawawi Foundation, Mamoon served as the Executive Director before joining ALIM.
Mamoon is no stranger to community service working with many organizations such as ISNA, MSA, and the Islamic Center of Madison. He founded the Muslim Youth of Minnesota, co-founded the American Muslim Health Professionals, and was the past MSA president of both the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin. |
Ayesha Husain is a business consultant providing technology, financial, and strategic services in the Healthcare, Oil & Gas, Automotive, and Chemical Industries. Mrs. Husain graduated from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. She has served on the board of American Muslim Women’s Association of Arizona, MSA-UT, and is a contributor to ISSA-USA. Mrs. Husain resides in Scottsdale, Arizona where she is actively involved in local community organizations.

Saqib Masood is an automotive mechanical engineer, and is currently working as a Hybrid Service Engineer at General Motors Company. Much of his career has been devoted to the development and implementation of advanced technologies within vehicles. Mr. Masood has volunteered with ALIM since its inception in various roles, most recently as a Trustee and official liaison to the Executive Board.
In addition, he has volunteered with a variety of organizations including MYNA, Peacenet, MSA-UMD President, MCWS, and other local organizations. Mr. Masood completed his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering followed by a Masters in Automotive Systems from the University of Michigan – Dearborn. |

Sabriyya Shaw is the founder of The Nafisa Project, an organization dedicated to the spiritual and personal development of young Muslim Women based in Memphis, Tennessee. She works as an Islamic Studies teacher at Pleasant View School, and a coordinator of ALIM’S FRAMES program. She is pursuing a Masters of Divinity in Islamic Chaplaincy from Bayan Islamic Graduate School. She holds a bachelors in Psychology from the University of Memphis, and graduated from Tayseer Seminary in 2021. From a young age, her interest in learning Deen pushed her to study with local teachers and attend Deen intensives across the country. Her love for community service led her to cofound the Midtown Mosque mobile food pantry at 16, serve on youth and community service projects, and volunteer with Muslim nonprofits locally and nationally.

Yasin Ahmed has dedicated over a decade to serving the Muslim American community. Currently, he holds the position of Executive Director at Wasat, a Seattle-based community that integrates the Sacred into art and service, as well as at Muslim Wedding Services, which facilitates culturally enriching weddings by connecting couples with suitable officiants. Notably, Yasin was the second Muslim to assume the role of Director of Religious Life in higher education and previously served as Cornell University's inaugural Muslim Chaplain. He holds an MA/GC in Islamic Studies from Hartford Seminary and actively contributes to Common Ground Services as a board member, an Islamic Consulting firm. Yasin is committed to fostering prophetic communities through the promotion of healing and nurturing healthy relationships.

Zain Bengali is the COO for Recycle Processes Incorporated providing unique recycled products to the metals industry. He is actively involved in his local community centers, MECCA and UEF. Previously, he served with the ADAMS Center and as a volunteer and trustee for ALIM during its early years.
Mr. Bengali earned his BS in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, and followed it up with a PhD in Biological Sciences from Northwestern University and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Virology. |
